Most of the players called up for national duty were expected to play for their respective clubs yesterday — a situation which the Warriors technical department said they were not comfortable with.

Warriors’ team manager Shariff Mussa said they would have preferred a situation whereby the players were released for camp without playing any more games to avoid injuries ahead of the friendly match.

“We hope there won’t be injuries after the midweek matches. Ideally, they should not have played in the midweek matches. They should just have reported for camp,” Mussa said.

The Warriors team manager will, however, not be part of the travelling contingent as he has other commitments.

Head coach Klaus Dieter Pagels will also not be travelling to Malawi as he has family commitments in Germany.

Assistant coach Lloyd Mutasa will take charge of the team in the absence of Dieter-Pagels with Young Warriors coach Peter Ndlovu and goalkeepers’ coach Nkululeko Dhlamini set to assist him.
