JOHANNESBURG — Former Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has reportedly been shown the door at his South African Premiership football side Black Leopards.
Report by Soccer Laduma
Leopards were relegated to South Africa’s second tier of football after an unsuccessful season in the Premier Soccer League and a source close to the Limpopo outfit has since revealed to Soccer Laduma that Chidzambwa and Abel Makhubele have been relieved of their duties.
The two worked together in the technical team when Leopards were eventually relegated, following a string of poor results.
Chidzambwa was Lidoda Duvha’s technical director, while Makhubele was the caretaker coach of the side.
Makhubele said: “That will be confirmed by the management. The right people to speak to are the management of the club. But I will accept anything. Coaching is a merry-go-round. As a coach, you are not stationed in one place all the time. You have to move especially if the results are not coming.
“At Leopards, the results didn’t come our way. We are all to blame. We cannot blame just the players. We are to blame as well. Even the management had a role to play. It’s not just one person. It’s all of us. Even the supporters had a role to play. We all contributed. The only way to solve this issue is to sit down and discuss it. Pointing fingers won’t help at the moment.”
Leopards are expected to hire a new coach, with Joel Masutha being linked to the position.

Masutha is currently with Phungo All Stars in the Safa Second Division. Asked for comment, Leopards chairman David Thidiela, however, denied any knowledge of the situation. He questioned Soccer Laduma: “Who told you this?” He added: “I don’t know anything about this.”
