POLICE in Mashonaland West province yesterday said they have launched a probe into a suspected break-in which occurred at Spar Supermarket in Kadoma on Monday leading to the theft of more than $30 000.
“We can confirm that we are investigating the circumstances in which Spar Supermarket in Kadoma was allegedly broken into by unknown persons who went away with
$36 574 61, R2000 and a Samsung cellphone,” said national police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi.
According to police, one of the supermarket employees reported for duty at around 5am and found one of the door screens leading to the main safe and the shop roof had been tampered with. The matter was then reported to the police.
“We are appealing to business operators to step up security at their business premises and to bank their money daily and avoid keeping large sums of money at the premises,” said Nyathi.
