The win helped the Bundesliga outfit which has been battling relegation to stay afloat.

Musona signed for German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in July 2011 from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs before he was loaned to fellow Bundesliga side Augsburg on July 1 2012.

He is now set to return to Hoffenheim in July.

Danish defender Jannik Vestergaard’s late header sealed a 5-2 aggregate win which preserved Hoffenheim’s status in Germany’s top flight league after winning the first-leg 3-1 at home last Thursday. Having been second from bottom in the Bundesliga since February, Hoffenheim only escaped automatic relegation on the last day of the season on May 18.

Their shock 2-1 win at Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund meant Hoffenheim finished 16th to qualify for the play-off against Kaiserslautern, who finished third in the second division.

The 2013/14 season will be Hoffenheim’s sixth in Germany’s top-flight, while defeat means Kaiserslautern remain in the second division.

But the Zimbabwean international, who officially returns to Hoffeinheim on I July, did not have the best of seasons at Augsburg where he played just 130 minutes the whole season.

He started just one game against reigning Uefa champions Bayern Munich in the 2012-2013 soccer league season and played for 80 minutes before he was substituted in a 2-0 losing cause.

He appeared as a second half substitute in five matches and was an unused substitute in three matches against Eintracht, Hamburg and Wolfsburg.

However, Musona, who scored the only goal for the Warriors in their 2-1 defeat to Egypt in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Alexandria in March remains a key member of the Warriors and is expected in camp on June 3 as Zimbabwe prepares for the return leg in Harare on June 9.
