Heynckes lifted European football’s biggest prize for the second time on Saturday night as Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley, having already won the Champions League during his one year in charge of Real in 1997-98.

He has previously said he is retiring from the sport following the German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart and the 68-year-old will be replaced at Bayern by Pep Guardiola next season, but his representative Enrique Reyes now claims he is not yet ready to retire.

“Jupp would be delighted and is wishing to return to Real Madrid,” Reyes told the radio station National Radio.

“If Florentino (Perez) phones us, we would accept the offer for sure. Right now, he is only retiring from the Bundesliga. He who has to accept is not Heynckes, but Florentino Perez.”

Madrid confirmed last week that their current manager Jose Mourinho would be leaving the club at the end of the season after three years in charge. However, Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti remains the favourite to take the reigns in the Spanish capital.
