A number of newspapers in Ivory Coast have spread the news that the Galatasaray new signing might follow the Special One to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but his father says the London club is now history for his son.

“I have been in contact with my son. He has never thought of going back to Chelsea,” Albert Drogba said in Abidjan on Tuesday.

“Jose Mourinho has never contacted him for a return to Chelsea. He will conclude his contract at Galatasaray. All what you hear are rumours.”

He also responded to questions about his son’s absence from the Ivory Coast national team and a sporting director job Galatasaray have promised to offer Drogba after his retirement.

“I think my son has done his best for the Elephants. Everybody knows how he has laboured for the country through football. Now, if they no longer need his services, they should clearly say it and drop him definitely.

“I will be happy if my son becomes sporting director at the Turkish club, but that is future and only God can define that.”
