Matabeleland South provincial police acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya confirmed the accident that occurred on Wednesday at around 7pm, where one person died while the driver of the car was injured.

“The circumstances leading to the accident are that the driver Joshua Taruvinga (49) was travelling towards Bulawayo from Plumtree in the evening with one passenger, the now deceased Luweni Mashidi (46),” he said.

Ngwenya said as the driver approached the 96km peg along Bulawayo-Plumtree Road, he hit a cow that was in the middle of the road.

“The vehicle then veered off the road and hit a tree, Mashidi died on the spot and Taruvinga sustained serious injuries,” Ngwenya said.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Plumtree District Hospital mortuary where it awaits postmortem and the injured was taken to the same hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Ngwenya warned motorists to be extra cautious when travelling at night and to be always on the lookout for stray animals crossing the road to avoid unnecessary loss of lives. He said the driver was suspected to be speeding.

But this is not a complete report in that it lacks detail as to what actually happened. What type of a car was it? What time of the day was it? What caused Ngwenya to suspect that the driver was speeding? You could also help the public by enlightening them as to what the law says about stray cattle or animals? Were the cattle attended to? All I am saying is that this report would have been interesting to read had the journalist gone deeper.

    1. Don’t waste your time talking politics. See how a Zimbabwean poor woman became a millionaire just by buying and selling accidented cars, Very interesting idea. Go to (ACCIDENTEDCARS.COM) to see the various methods and companies she was using(ACCIDENTEDCARS.COM). A simple idea but who knew it before. WAKE UP AFRICANS. Don’t waste your time talking politics. 2. The time of the day is stated as 7pm.

read paragraph two of the story and you will find the approximate time of occurence. again, speed can be determined by the nature of impact, for instance, the car is said to have veered of the road and hit a tree. you look at the size of the tree trunk and then the impact. that gives a rough idea of whether the vehicle was speeding or not.

When Ian Smith and his white farmers fenced off the farms and villages with livestock, you siad he was racist because he was putting up barriers to prevent black movement – today you have chickens, cows, and donkeys all over the place, hence the accidents.

Go to Europe, come to South Africa you will never see animals in public roads – never. Animals are not people, learn to make that distinction. They dont reason like you – so they go anywhere and everywhere.

Lets learn good things from the whitemen and stop seeing racism and dismissing everything!
