A BULAWAYO man on Friday appeared before local magistrate Witness Mtetwa, facing charges of possessing 23 rounds of ammunition without authority.
Report by Nkulani Nkabinde
Mbonisi Nyathi (43) was arrested on Thursday last week after being searched by officers from Bulawayo Central Police Station and allegedly found in possession of the bullets.
He is facing charges of contravening Section 4 (a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10:09, which prohibits “possession of ammunition without a firearm certificate”.
Prosecutor Marlvin Nzombe told the court that Nyathi was stopped by the police near Evelyn High School who conducted a search on him.
It was not indicated in court what the accused intended to do with the ammunition.
Nyathi, who is out on $100 bail, will next appear in court on Thursday.
