BULAWAYO Chiefs will be seeking to maintain their 100% winning start when they resume their Zifa Southern Region Division One League campaign

BULAWAYO Chiefs will be seeking to maintain their 100% winning start when they resume their Zifa Southern Region Division One League campaign against Technosphere in Hwange on Saturday.

Report by Vitalis Moyo

Chiefs did not play last weekend as their match against Black Boots was postponed to May 16 as the police side was participating in the Commissioner-General Sports games.

Despite missing out on last week’s action, Chiefs remained on top of the log standings with 15 points from five games and a game in hand, while their opponents are currently sitting on nine points in fifth position.

The league debutants, who have had a promising start to the season having won three of their six matches, last week handed Rufaro Rovers their first win of the season when they went down 1-0 in Hwange.

Meanwhile, Luveve Stadium will host the battle of the former Premiership sides as Zimbabwe Saints take on Quelaton tomorrow.

Quelaton are on third position on the log standings with 12 points, while Chikwata are on fourth position with 10 points.

Saints played to a 3-3 draw in last week’s match against Tsholotsho, while Quelaton recorded their fourth victory of the season when they beat new-boys Ajax Hotspurs 1-0.

In other matches that will be played tomorrow, struggling Bulawayo Jumbos, who are at the foot of the table, host Rufaro Rovers in a bottom-of-the-table clash at Brad Barracks.

Hwange Juniors take on an inconsistent New West City in Hwange, while Bantu Rovers are up against Mpumalanga at Luveve.

Second-placed ZPC Hwange will be hoping not to drop points as they travel to Bulawayo to face Ajax Hotspurs at White City.

Black Boots resume their league campaign with a double header against Tsholotsho in Fair Bridge tomorrow before hosting Rufaro Rovers 24 hours later.

Mkhosana take on Ntabazinduna on Sunday to conclude the weekend fixtures.
