ALL is set for the Carnival Queen Zimbabwe pageant which will be held tomorrow evening at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

The pageant which is being held ahead of the inaugural Zimbabwe International Carnival which runs from May 21 to 26 in Harare will see 19 contestants drawn from different provinces vying for the coveted crown.
Local artistes Sulumani “Sulu” Chimbetu, Winky D, Xtra Large, Goodchild and Cindy Munyavi will entertain guests at the event.

The contestants are Rumbidzai Machipanda (22), Chipo Bingepinge (22), Rutendo Chidavaenzi (22), Heather Masimba (18), Chenai Chaendera (18), Blessing Mukumene (21), Victoria Chidarikire (21), Shermaine Dhliwayo (21), Michelle Tembo, Nokwazi Chikanya, Marble Nyathi (22), Chantel George (21), Melissa Chaka (22), Chiyedza Muteyiwa (19), Tendai B Hunda (21), Nyaradzo Nhongonhema (22), Hilda Mabu (21), Thabiso Phiri (21) and Dananai Chipunza (21).
The Carnival Queen’s duties will include leading the main carnival procession on May 25. She will also be the face of the Zimbabwe International Carnival and will go on to represent the country at various international carnivals.
Her First princess will be crowned Miss Heritage Zimbabwe. She will be the face of Zimbabwe’s Heritage and will, therefore, represent the country at the forthcoming Miss Heritage World pageant to be held in Victoria Falls in August.
Carnival Queen prizes include a Mercedes Benz sponsored by Oketex Investments, $20 000 prize money, mobile phones, hotel vouchers and a return trip to Brazil, among many other prizes.
Miss Heritage will walk away with a prize money of $10 000, a return trip to a place of her choice courtesy of Air Namibia and hotel vouchers, among other prizes.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) spokesperson Sugar Chagonda said all was in place for the big day. He said the national broadcaster, ZBC, would broadcast the pageant live to cater for those who will not be able to attend the event.
