Madzore spent the weekend in custody over the utterances he allegedly made while addressing an MDC-T rally at Mushumbi Pools in Mbire, Mashonaland Central, last month.

His lawyer Charles Kwaramba said: “He is still in custody in Bindura and we are anticipating going to court tomorrow (today).”

Madzore was arrested in Harare on Thursday and taken to Bindura where his trial is set to take place.

He is being charged with undermining the office of the President under Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act).

Madzore is alleged to have uttered the words: “Mugabe is a donkey that is limping. He is holding back (Prime Minister) Morgan Tsvangirai from ruling effectively.”

The MDC-T youth leader was released from remand prison in November last year after languishing behind bars for 14 months over allegations of murdering police inspector Petros Mutedza in May 2011 in Glen View, Harare.
