The former Caps United striker came off the bench to score the deciding goal — his first of the season in nine games — which saw his club moving to sixth position on the Romania Liga 1 log standings.

Vaslui are five points behind the two teams that are occupying the Europa League spot, with six matches still to play.

Costa Nhamoinesu’s Polish club Zaglebie Lubin is also vying for the Uefa Europa League Cup ticket and the team’s emphatic 4-0 win over Slask Wroclaw on Saturday further strengthened their ambitions.

With the win, Lubin moved to sixth position, five points below the teams occupying the spot for Europe’s second biggest club competition.

Still in the Ekstraklasa, Dickson Choto is almost assured of Uefa Champions League football next season as his Legia Warszawa is five points clear at the top with six matches left to play.

However, Choto’s future at the club is uncertain as he has he has been struggling to fit into the first team.

The 32-year-old has featured just twice for his club this season in all competitions.

Warriors midfielder Quincy Antipas was on the scoring sheet again this week, scoring the winner for his Danish side Brondby who won 2-1 at OB to ease relegation worries.

Following his late strike that won his side a point last week, Antipas struck with three minutes remaining in the game as Brondby moved to safety.

Knowledge Musona did not make it into the final 18 for his Bundesliga side Augsburg who moved to the relegation play-offs position with two games left to play.

Still in Europe, Archford Gutu was handed his second start of the season for his Swedish club Kalmar FF who have made a strong start to the season. Gutu was substituted at halftime as his club was held to a goalless draw at home by Atvidaberg, a point that helped them maintain their fifth spot on the log after six matches.

Former Lancashire Steel and Dynamos midfield star Justice Majabvi played the whole match for his new club Hai Phong who lost 1-0 at home to Hoang Anh Gia Lai, their first loss of the season in five matches.

He joined from Khan Hoa which was relegated last season.

In the South Africa Absa Premiership, the Zimbabwe crew at Kaizer Chiefs Willard Katsande, Kingston Nkhata, Mathew Rusike and Lincoln Zvasiya edged closer to the league title after they played to a 0-0 draw against Platinum Stars to maintain their six point lead with three games to go.

Katsande and Nkhata played the whole match while Rusike joined the action later in the second half.

Ramson Zhuwawo, who is rumoured to be heading for the exit door at AmaZulu, was given a rare start in their 3-1 loss away to Free State Stars on Saturday. The former Gunners man was substituted on 56th minute.

Wits University had Tinashe Nengomasha and Thomas Sweswe in the line-up when they conceded a last minute goal against Orlando Pirates on Saturday night. Denver Mukamba was not in the final squad for Wits and so was Takesure Chinyama for Pirates.

Former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari provided an assist for an equalising goal for his club Chippa United to hold Khama Billiat’s Ajax Cape Town in the relegation dog-fight.

Nyasha Mushekwi was given a starting role for Mamelodi Sundowns who lost 1-0 to Rodreck Mutuma’s Bloemfontein Celtic The former Dynamos striker was introduced with eight minutes remaining.

Washington Arubi started for Pretoria University while Lionel Mutizwa was an injury time substitute as Tuks heaped more relegation woes on Black Leopards with a 3-1 thumping.
