IN-FORM striker Cuthbert Malajila, who is turning out for modest South African Premiership football side Maritzburg United, has reportedly attracted interest from giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Malajila, who is unfazed by the interest, said helping Maritzburg United finish the season in a respectable position was more important to him than winning the Golden Boot award.
The Zimbabwean striker has scored nine times in the league so far and is just a single goal behind the two leading scorers.
However, in a chat with KickOff.com, the striker said he would not let the quest for individual glory overshadow the more important objective of helping the team finish in the top five, where they currently find themselves.
“Winning the top scorer award is not a priority to me. I just want to help my team to finish the season in a good position on the log,” Malajila told KickOff.com.
“Scoring as many goals as I can will help the team to achieve this goal and if I manage to win the top scorer award in the process, then I will be happy. But the team always comes first because without the help of my teammates I would not be scoring the goals.”
Malajila — who was on target on Saturday as his team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup — has proved invaluable for the Pietermaritzburg–based side.

It is this kind of goal-scoring form that has seen the 27-year-old reportedly attracting the interest of Pirates and Sundowns.
But Malajila, whose deal with Maritzburg runs until June 2015, says he is not being affected by rumours and speculation regarding his future.
“I have read all these reports about certain clubs that are said to be interested in me. I do not let this get into my head because my focus is on doing well for the club.
“These speculations are all part of football, but the most important thing for a player is to remain rooted. I am contracted to Maritzburg and I remain committed to this team,” he said.
