The festival, which has been running since 2011, will be graced by some of the country’s most celebrated artistes from various genres.

“We are bringing big artistes to show that the festival is now at improved levels and we are expecting the biggest attendance ever because of Sulu, Winky D and Kapfupi,” said the festival founder, Umtali Saidi.

This year’s festival will run under the theme: “Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV” which encourages men to play a leading role in the dissemination of awareness information.

Saidi said the festival was aimed at showcasing new and upcoming talent, mainly from Mashonaland Central, and also encourage artistes from smaller cities to showcase their abilities.

“My wish is that people who are talented in various specialties in the arts take advantage of this platform to rise to better levels,” he said.

The festival’s artistic director Arab Majavala said the festival had in its few years discovered new talent.

He said although this was an entertainment platform, it was also educative and this year men were being encouraged to stand by their HIV-positive wives or partners during pregnancy.

“It is a responsibility for both men and women thus they should also be tested together and unite to prevent mother-to-child transmition of HIV,” said Majavala.

He added that a lot of artistes had also been uplifted by the formation of the festival as some of them had begun taking their arts products to national level.
