LOCAL diamond miner Gye Nyame Resources has appointed Ghanaian Albert Adomako as managing director of the company while local businessperson Manson Mnaba was appointed chairperson.

Gye Nyame Resources is a joint venture diamond mining firm between the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) and Ghana’s Bill Minerals.

The deal is a 50-50 partnership.

Adomako studied electrical engineering in the United Kingdom and his last appointment was with the Economic Commission for West African States as a consultant on public sector and infrastructural development.

Mnaba is a business executive with a wide portfolio of investments in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

He holds various board positions across various sectors of the economy that include mining, health, construction, education and hospitality.

Gye Nyame Resources was established in the first quarter of 2011 and sits on 250 hectares of land.

The company has already begun mining in Marange’s Chiadzwa diamond-rich area.
