DYNAMOS coach Kalisto Pasuwa heaved a mighty sigh of relief after his charges finally came right, collecting their first set of maximum points this season after beating lowly Tripple B in Castle Lager Premiership football match played at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

Prior to the match, Dynamos had drawn their first five matches and needed a controversial equaliser against Highlanders last Sunday to survive, and pressure was mounting on Pasuwa from their hard-to-please fans.

Washington Pakamisa’s 19th minute goal and Patson Jaure’s 45th minute strike from an indirect kick ensured that Pasuwa could have some sleep, at least for last night, ahead of Wednesday’s clash against log leaders FC Platinum.

The Dynamos gaffer, who acknowledged that he was under pressure, lauded his charges for putting up a brave fight to win their first match of the season.

“It was a hard-earned three points and obviously I am happy. We went into the match under a lot of pressure from our fans, but we managed to calm our nerves to secure the three points. We played badly in the first half, but the good thing is we managed to score two without conceding,” he said.

Tripple B coach Friday Phiri conceded that it was a bad day for them, despite having dominated the first half.

“It’s just unfortunate that what you want is not what always happens. We wanted to record a third successive win, but that was going to be difficult against Dynamos who were chasing their first win of the season. Overall, I am happy with the way we played,” he said in his post-match comments.

Tripple B started the match brightly with some neat passing which kept Dynamos on the back foot for the better part of the first half. It was, however, Dynamos who scored against the run of play in the 19th minute through Pakamisa.

It was his first goal for Dynamos and first of the season.

Tripple B had won a free kick in Dynamos’ half which the visitors defended well to launch a counter attack involving Jaure, Tawanda Muparati, Boban Ziruntusa and Murape Murape, who threaded in the final pass for Pakamisa to slot past Tapuwa Mafunga.

Dynamos added their second right on the stroke of halftime through Jaure, who scored for his second successive match after last week’s equaliser against Highlanders.

The visitors won an indirect free kick inside the box, awarded by referee Rugare Kusosa after Mafunga, in a moment of madness, handled a back pass from Phillip Makanje. Murape tapped the ball for Jaure, whose low shot found the back of the net.

In the second half, Tripple B continued with their neat passing game, creating some anxious moments for the Dynamos backline, but their strikeforce failed to execute.

The hosts came close in the 66th minute when Edmore Chapfungamoyo’s free kick kissed the upright with Dynamos goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi a beaten man. Tichaona Mabvura could have made it 3-0 for Dynamos in the 87th minute with only the goalkeeper to beat, but he shot horribly wide.
