KWE — Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya yesterday accused police of lacking seriousness in dealing with crime in his constituency

KWEKWE — Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya yesterday accused police of lacking seriousness in dealing with crime in his constituency, including the recent murder of a reveller allegedly by the infamous Masendeke brothers.

Report by Moses Matenga

The MDC-T MP said in a statement that the police should act to bring sanity to the constituency and arrest the alleged killers who are reportedly on the run.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspected murderers. One of the Masendeke brothers, Elson, has since been captured, while Edward and Ernest were still on the run.

The three are siblings of executed notorious armed robber and murderer Edgar Edmund Edmore Masendeke, who was hanged 11 years ago for murder.

“I would like to extend my condolences to the grieving family for this sad development. I, however, place blame squarely on the police who have been watching various individuals turning Mbizo 4 shopping centre into a hive of criminal activities,” Chikwinya said.

“Just recently, another individual lost his life and the police are yet to apprehend the suspect simply because of his political affiliation. Every known criminal at this centre must be accounted for so that we create a peaceful community.”
