The friendly match will be the highlight of Matabeleland Rugby Football Board (MRFB) celebration of Hartsfield grounds 75 years of existence.

MRFB vice-chairman Sean Robinson yesterday told Newsday Sport that they will have their training session tomorrow evening at Hartsfield.

“We will be having our combined training session tomorrow (today) at Hartsfield at 5:30pm. We are expecting to be joined by colleagues from other cities as we prepare for our weekend game. Some of the players will be joining us on Friday and Saturday before the game,” Robinson said.

A contingent of Springbok legends is expected to jet into the city tomorrow morning.

“So far we have had a decent turn out in our training sessions as legends from this side. We have used games against local sides like Indlovu to prepare ourselves as well as to get the momentum going ahead of our match. Guys in Harare have also been training hard to get ready for the big game,” Robinson added.

The Zimbabwe legends squad will be composed of former national team players as well as former Northern and Southern region players.

Bulawayo-born Ian McIntosh, the current Springbok selector, will lead a coaching clinic with schoolboys from the city’s top rugby-playing schools in the morning of the game.

As part of the celebrations, MRFB has organised a golf day at Bulawayo Country Club tomorrow where some of the Springboks in the touring legends team will feature. The much-anticipated clash of the legends will receive some DStv coverage as the match is set to be broadcast on SuperSport — the leading sports broadcaster in Africa.
