Despite the heated competition from Mattheus Mhere, who is riding high with his latest album Anoita Minana, Shumba told NewsDay he was happy with fans’ response to his new release.

“It is encouraging to see that people do love my music and I have to thank God for that,” said Shumba.

The Mufaro hit-maker said there was no bad blood between him and Mhere who recently snatched Shumba’s band members.

“We are both preaching the word of God and there is nothing wrong with the cross-over. Instrumentalists just choose a band they like at any moment. We are brothers and we will take the Word further,” he said.

“I am prepared to work with musicians from various genres because this is a chance to explore new styles.”

Tomorrow, Shumba will share the stage with Jah Prayzah at Pick and Save in Mutare. He said the show was one of the many events he will work with a number of musicians from outside Manicaland province in his hometown.

“Mutare is my professional base and working with musicians from other parts of the country, especially in a show in the city, is encouraging. I am happy to work with musicians from outside the province.”
