The company recently funded PSL coaches course for the second year running. It was conducted by Eric Rutemoeller, a German national. Another course for the match officials is on the cards.

Speaking to NewsDay Sport yesterday, the company’s managing director Webster Chikengezha, who is also Dynamos Football Club vice-chairman, chronicled their involvement in the country’s most supported sport.

“When we look back at the last three additions of Afcon, Zimbabwe was not there and has never been to the World Cup. It then prompted us to think about what should be done by the corporate world to assist the national team to qualify for future Afcon and World Cup competitions.

“It was then that we decided to run courses for our Premier League Soccer coaches. The rationale behind it is to equip the trainer so that we can have the right product. The national coach, at most, might have five days to train the team while Premier League coaches have the players from January to November when the season ends. Surely if these coaches were well equipped, then we would have quality players for the national team.

“So as we move towards 2015, we need to continue to be active in this area and ensure that we have adequate talent to take us to the finals. Nigeria did it with the majority of their players from their local leagues and their coach was also local.”

He said their endeavour has received tremendous support from the PSL. “We have contributed significantly to the development of football in the country and the support from both PSL and Zifa has been tremendous.

“Going forward, we hope to come up with more ideas that will change the face of football in the country.

“The media has been very supportive to us. As you know, we have a brand that we need to protect and anything that is detrimental to the protection of our brand will not be acceptable.”
