LAGOS — Kenya arrived Lagos on Wednesday afternoon for a World Cup football qualifier against Nigeria with complaints of poor reception by their hosts.

The Harambee Stars bitterly complained over a change in their travelling arrangement to Calabar as against the information given to them by Nigeria Football Federation.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have written an official letter of complaint to their counterparts, Nigerian Football Federation. The Kenyan team landed in Nigeria on Wednesday, but were told they will have to spend the night in Lagos yet initial communication suggested the Nigerian FA will have a chartered flight awaiting the Stars in Lagos for a direct flight to the city of the match Calabar.

The 2014 Fifa world Cup qualifier match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be played in Calabar tomorrow afternoon.

In the letter dated 20th of March 2013, FKF Secretary General Michael Esakwa told the Nigerian FA, “As per your earlier correspondence and commitment our national team was to be flown to Calabar upon arrival, but this has not been done yet. Kenyans complained about the standard of hotel they were lodged in, poor food which made the players reject †he food served them, head of delegation Hussein Terry said.

Kenya coach Adel Amrouche said he believes Nigeria want to distract his team, but they won’t cave in to that.

Meanwhile, two players Arnold Origi and Chris Bwany joined the rest of the squad in Lagos after they connected a direct flight to Lagos from Norway. They trained with the team later in the evening at a ground close to the three-star hotel they were checked into at Ajao Estate Lagos.
