Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube identified the deceased as Augustine Shoko (34) from Chief Hwange’s area.

“On March 22 around 2030hrs, Shoko was walking along Hwange-Deka Road towards Deka, when he was fatally struck by an unknown motorist who immediately fled from the scene,” he said.

Dube said Shoko died on the spot at the 26km peg after he sustained a deep cut on the head, severe stomach injuries and bruises all over his chest.

A report was made to Hwange traffic police who attended the scene and the body was taken to Hwange Colliery mortuary.
