A funeral service was first held at the Lutheran Church in the morning at Masase before mourners made their way to Sifobela’s home. His third child, Sithembile described her late father as a loving, hardworking and passionate man.

“My father gave me a gift of wisdom. He was there to steer me into the right direction. He always spoke highly of my mother and he never took credit for his wonderful good qualities,” she said.

Family spokesperson Sibonginkosi Moyo said Sifobela devoted his “time and life to his church, family and Nust”.

Students representative council president Lovejoy Nikisi Ngorima said Sifobela was “an academic par-excellence, a great philosopher and a politician who taught me to be a good student leader”.

Sifobela was born in Mberengwa on August 27 1947. He collapsed and died in his car last week. He is survived by a wife and four children.
