G-TEL Face of Zimbabwe (FOZ) 2012 finalist Victoria Chidarikire will this year represent Zimbabwe at the internationally-acclaimed Miss Africa Caribbean Pacific 2013 to be hosted from April 23 to May 19 in Turkey.

This is the first time Zimbabwe will be represented in the annual pageant that sees beauties from members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific states competing for the crown.

“I feel so privileged to have been spotted by organisers of such a prestigious event to take part in it with the little experience I have,” said Chidarikire.

She said the event organisers had selected her based on the profile and pictures that saw her being voted Miss October in the Face of Zimbabwe 2012 pageant.

The young model thanked FOZ for exposing her to the international modelling arena.

“As part of the competition requirements, before I leave for Turkey, I will host a fashion show in Harare for young designers and all proceeds will go to charity as the pageant’s main focus is on supporting various charity organisations worldwide,” said Chidarikire.

“I have also been challenged, together with the other models, to do a seven-minute documentary to market my country. The documentary will be considered in the adjudication process.”

Chidarikire, who is a marketing student at a college in Harare, said she would focus on the economic, social and cultural aspects of Zimbabwe in her documentary.

“I am more interested in bringing out the cultural aspects, which would be of great value to most Zimbabweans.”

The winner of the competition will walk away with prize money of $10 000, a car and other prizes, including a one year contract with an internationally-acclaimed modelling agency.
