The incident happened last Wednesday at Arda Sis Estate in Rafingora. Sigauke is believed to have been attached at Arda Sis Estate as a private security guard.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabweazara confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Robert Govera while Last Mazhanje, who was shot in the shoulder, is admitted at Banket District Hospital.

According to police, the pair was shot at while driving through the farm.

They allegedly stopped and asked for a shorter way from two of the guards at the farm, but the latter fled after suspecting them of being robbers.

“The two continued with their journey and on their way from Mhangura they used the same route and they were stopped by the accused who was in the company of Makey Kudyamapanga and Rodgers Rice,” Mabweazara said.

“The accused ordered the two to disembark from the vehicle and as Mazhange disembarked from the car, he was shot in the right shoulder and fell to the ground.

“When Govera was about to disembark he was shot in the neck, fell down and died on the spot.”

According to the police, Sigauke is said to have ordered Mazhange to carry Govera’s body into his vehicle and force marched him to Arda Sis Estate compound in the company of the other two farm guards.

“The accused then fled to an unknown destination,” Mabweazara said. Police recovered the firearm and a spent cartridge at the scene.
