When the NewsDay crew arrived at the scene at about 4:30pm the same day, police had just put the body of the deceased — a male adult — into a coffin.
There was a pool of blood on the road. Police dispersed the crowd that had gathered at the scene following the incident.
Witnesses said the tout was stabbed with a knife by a colleague during a fight over $1 for helping to find customers for the commuter omnibus driver.
The assailant is said to have driven off at high speed after the incident.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday confirmed the incident and said the suspected murderer was still at large.
“A manhunt has been launch for the man who drove off at a very high speed,” he said. Moyo could not shed more light on the incident.
