ZIMBABWE International Trade Fair general manager Daniel Chigaru will retire from office after this year’s exhibition having served the company for 30 years.

ZIMBABWE International Trade Fair (ZITF) general manager Daniel Chigaru will retire from office after this year’s exhibition having served the company for 30 years.

In a statement yesterday, ZITF said Chigaru would be retiring at the end of June to assume the responsibility of non-executive director and vice-chairman with effect from July 1.

Chigaru joined the company in 1982 as an administrative officer, and in 1986 was promoted to assistant general manager and company secretary.

He took over as general manager in 2003.

Nomathemba Ndlovu, who is the current deputy general manager, will take over from Chigaru at the beginning of July.

Meanwhile, ZTIF this week said more than 48 000 square metres of exhibition space representing 93% to total space had been taken up for this year exhibition scheduled for April 23 to 27 April.

Foreign exhibitors have so far booked over 5% of the space available.

ZITF officials said 15 foreign countries had so far booked compared to 14 last year.

Brazil, The People’s Republic of China, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia are the countries that have indicated their participation.
