RISING star Jah Prayzah launched his fourth album at a colourful event at Jazz 105 on Wednesday night.
Report by Silence Charumbira The new album — titled Tsviriyo — seemed to affirm the young musician as the next big thing on the local music front as he scales to greater heights.
In attendance were business mogul Phillip Chiyangwa, indigenisation minister Saviour Kasukuwere, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority boss Karikoga Kaseke, Zanu PF heavyweight Tendai Savanhu, Retired Major Anyway Mutambudzi, who represented Information minister Webster Shamu, flamboyant businessman and musician Energy Mutodi and Diamond Studios director Steady Munyanyi, among many other high-profile guests.
With attendees being caught up in the monster congestion due to the rains that pounded the capital on the day, it suddenly turned into a spectacle when the much improved Dembo brothers Morgan and Tendai went on stage.
In a wave motion, guests all shifted their attention to the stage signalling the beginning of the event.
For almost an hour speeches threatened to dampen the event, but the masters of ceremonies combination of Ronald Chiwanza, aka D-Train and the rebranding Zobha Mandizvidza, formerly Dr Zobha, kept the fire burning.
The climax came when with the auction of the first copy of the CD which the deep-pocketed jostled to grab initially appearing to have settled for $1 000.
It was Chiyangwa who had the crowd awestruck when he said he would buy the CD for a staggering $12 000.
