Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tarirai Dube confirmed the matter, adding that Mutopo (34) went into hiding early this year after her employer discovered the scam during an internal audit.

“We are looking for Rumbidzai Mutopo to question her in a case linking her to missing fuel coupons at Gold Driven Investments and anybody with knowledge of her whereabouts should contact us,” said Dube.

“She was employed at the company as a secretary and she stole coupons of diesel and petrol worth $33 415,60 between January 2011 and November 2012. The missing money was discovered after an audit was carried out and she had left the job.”

In a similar matter, police said they were also looking for Vengesai Mhlanga in connection with a $13 000 fraud case. It is alleged Mhlanga (35) fled with a client’s money after misrepresenting that he could import cars.

“He misrepresented facts to a certain man and said he could import cars and he was given $13 000 which he is suspected to have converted to his own use,” said Dube.
