Gospel of Christ or of satanism?

Opinion & Analysis
This week the media was awash with opinions of the results of the elections in Kenya. Both the Standard and The Sunday Mail ran editorials under the heading, Lessons from Kenya’s Elections. I leave the analysis to Muckracker, but suffice to say that the lessons learnt differed.

Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

In recent weeks the media has extensively reported on incidents of satanic manifestations. Just as is the case with the lessons from Kenya’s elections, many schools of thought have emerged regarding the spread of satanism with some reports accusing the church, others saying satanism has increased beyond the church’s reach and some attributing the exposure of satanism to massive preaching of the Gospel of Christ and the subsequent advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Parents now face many challenges. There are reports in some schools of prefects bullying other students even to the point of death. We have heard pupils being sexually abused and raped by those who should protect them. Now parents have to deal with satanism. This is all in addition to forking out hard earned money under difficult economic conditions for tuition and school fees.

Those that feel they need therapy, please get it. Today allow me to deal with the balance between the spread of Christianity and satanism.

Let me lay out some facts first. The church is the corporate body of Christ and is made up of various church groups or ministries and denominations. Cults are not part of the church, but satanic instruments to further the devil’s agenda masquerading as part of the true Church of God. Satanism includes many practices such as witchcraft and ancestral worship. In simple terms everything that is not of God is of the devil.

Having worked extensively in outreaches, evangelism and missions, I have seen how the church has been taking over especially from the end of the last millennium onwards. Families, communities, societies and nations are embracing the Gospel of Christ. Schools and companies are anchored on Christianity. Many companies open for business in the morning with prayer and board meetings are held after intercessory prayer.

The mainstream media is awash with gospel programmes. There are now many devotional publications.

Jesus is being preached and the Kingdom taught almost everywhere including political gatherings, shebeens and brothels through music. From this perspective and viewpoint we can conclude that the Kingdom of God is in charge and the Church has not lost the battle.

Due to advances in communication, news is now travelling faster. Things that could not be heard at a global level are now at a global stage.

A mobile phone can now be used to take pictures and shoot videos in the remotest parts of the earth. Facilities like Facebook and YouTube are helping spread information like hell fire. What was not previously reported about satanism is now reported. Occultic activities are being widely exposed.

However, we should be aware that every system whether it is of God or the devil works on the principle of progressive advancement. So the devil’s agenda is to perfect his skills, better his tact and penetrate more areas. Many people now fear that the church has been caught unawares. Some now believe that Satan wields certain power beyond God’s ability. No, this is not correct. The Almighty God holds all power. Jesus assures us in Matthew 28:18: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

While I applaud efforts being made to promote unity in the true body of Christ, I must say that there is still much room to get together so that the battle against satanic manoeuvres is won comprehensively.

Satan cannot prevail against the church according to Jesus’ declaration in Matthew 16:18: “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” One of the tools the devil is using against the Church is divide and rule. Demons can easily gang up against Christians while Christians are busy dividing the body of Christ. I know people hold various opinions, but I am here to assure you that God is on His throne with no signs of vacating. The devil has always been fighting and losing ever since his rebellion. Intense prayer and preaching of the Gospel of Christ has exposed Satan.

So don’t fear, just remain alert pleading for the blood of Jesus. Don’t be intimidated, you are more than a conqueror. Be on the side of God and take over more territory. You are going somewhere.
