THE annual Young Artists’ Exhibition opened at Gallery Delta on Tuesday.
REPORT BY MUNESU NYAKUDYA
More than 20 artists presented their works, mostly paintings, and are very grateful to the support they are receiving from the corporate world. One of the artists with paintings on display is Joseph Zuze.
“I have the art of telling stories through paintings and my paintings can ‘speak’ to anyone who appreciates art,” said Zuze.
“It is every young artist’s hope to become seasoned and famous. We all hope to go higher with every work we do.”
He started painting in his childhood and has been benefiting from the assistance of the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust for the past five years. Executive director of the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust, Farai Mupfunya, who officially opened the exhibition, hailed the artists for their creativity.
“What characterises good art is that it touches people beyond constraints of culture or tradition,” he said.
“The contemporary art movement continues with artists like Misheck Masamvu, Gareth Nyandoro, Admire Kamudzengerere, Virginia Chihota and Portia Zvavahera.

He said the Annual Young Artists’ Exhibition always marks the beginning of creative cycles for many people.
Many other young artists that spoke to NewsDay expressed hope for a bright future in the country’s visual arts scene.
