A number of events have been lined up across the country to mark the day. NewsDay takes a look at various venues that will be hosting such events and what lovers can expect.

Zimcafe Hotel and Conference Centre Oliver Mtukudzi will perform at the Zimcafe Hotel and Conference Centre. He will serenade lovers who will be treated to a three-course meal.

Tuku is expected to dish out some of his best love ballads, including Svovi Yangu and Pane Rudo (a collaboration with Ex-Q).

Garwe Restaurant The popular traditional food restaurant in Eastlea hosts a dinner for lovers. Lovers will also have a chance to buy each other presents at the restaurant as various wares will be on sale.

Organisers of the event said they had put everything in place to ensure that the event is the best Valentine’s dinner.

Alliance Française Following a successful tour of Norway with the group Monoswezi, rising mbira artiste Hope Masike will stage her first show this year at Alliance Française tonight. Dubbed “Not Valentine’s Again”, the show is set to light up the evening in celebration of love through cultural music.

The rising mbira princess said the show was about looking at the other side of love.

“It’s a concert about the flip side of love and everything to do with it,” she said. She will share the stage with Steve Makoni.

Rainbow Towers Hotel Cell One Electronics hosts a “thank you” event for its clients in the form of a Valentine’s dinner tonight. The event will be for couples that will buy any of the mobile phone company’s products worth $500 by 5pm today. The clients will receive invitations for the dinner. The candle-lit dinner will host 25 lucky couples.

Chez Ntemba The rhumba club hosts a pageant titled Miss Chez Ntemba as part of Valentine’s Day events. Lovers will be treated to exciting love ballads throughout the event courtesy of DJs Dollar Bill, Seductive Gee, Wale and Ben.

Holiday Inn It is Valentine’s party after Valentine’s Day tomorrow when Plaxedes Wenyika performs at the hotel. She is known for her soothing love songs that include Tisaparadzane and Love You Better.

Jazz 105 Sulumani Chimbetu, basking in the glory of his outstanding performance at a carnival in Seychelles, teams up with Munya Mataruse for a lovers’ gig at Jazz 105 tonight. Organisers said guests to the event should come dressed in Valentine’s Day colours only.

Rainbow Hotel (Byo) Tomorrow evening the hotel hosts an event dubbed “Valentine’s Dance” that will feature local DJs and an Edgars Fashion Show.
