Those who sign on for one of the packages will also receive priority customer service at Red Desks at all Telecel outlets and from a dedicated Red Customer Care Team in Telecel’s award-winning call centre.

Officially launching Telecel Red in Harare yesterday, chief executive officer Francis Mawindi said the product was the first of its kind on the local market.

“It is inevitably a game- changer and will forever change the mobile communications landscape in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Mawindi said the three packages were Telecel Red 30, Telecel Red 60 and Telecel Red 150. The number in each case corresponds with the fixed monthly subscription of the package.

“The monthly subscription for Telecel Red 30 is $30.

“The package gives the subscriber unlimited calls to a Telecel number of his or her choice and up to $30 worth of local calls, unlimited local text messages and local data per month. It also includes a bonus 60 megabytes of data,” he said.

Mawindi said the new product would deliver greater value for money, providing customers with more control and flexibility over their cellphone usage.

“The unlimited usage ranges from unlimited calls to a specific Telecel number to unlimited local calls, text messages and data across all local networks, depending on the package selected,” he said.

“It is estimated that with each of the packages, the subscriber could, each month, have up to five times as much usage as he or she has paid for.

“The higher the subscription, the better the incremental benefits that accrue.”

The company’s marketing director Octavius Kahiya said existing contract customers who would like to take advantage of the services that Telecel Red offers could opt to switch to a Telecel Red contract.
