GWERU — A 14-year-old Shurugwi boy who sodomised his nine-year-old friend will receive three strokes of the cane at Hwahwa Prison after a regional magistrate found him guilty of aggravated indecent assault. Report by Stephen Chadenga

The boy on several occasions lured and sodomised his friend. Gweru regional magistrate Morgan Madire ruled that the boy should receive three strokes after sentencing him to a wholly suspended three year jail term.

Prosecuting, Ndamuka Chikuni told the court that on an unknown date in April last year, the complainant went to his friend’s home after school.

The accused was alone at home and invited  the complainant into the storeroom. When the complainant refused, the 14-year-old pushed him until they reached the storeroom where he unlocked the door and sodomised him.

The accused sodomised the complainant on several occasions during the month of April.

The matter came to light after the complainant’s mother became suspicious and reported the matter to the police.
