MEDIA, Information and Publicity minister Webster Shamu’s mother, Mary Shamu, who died on Wednesday, will be laid to rest at plot number 32 in Musengezi today at 3pm .
Born on July 19, 1922, Shamu’s mother died on her way to St Annes Hospital in Harare to see a doctor.
She reportedly died of “unstable congestion cardiac failure as a result of dilated cardiomyopathy”.
Cardiomyopathy is the measurable deterioration of the function of the heart muscle for any reason, usually leading to heart failure.
Mbuya Shamu is survived by five children and several grandchildren.
Yesterday, mourners who had initially gathered at the minister’s residence in Borrowdale Brooke, Harare, had moved to the farm where the body lay in state.
