THE 2012 Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) Ordinary Level results have been released.

Report by Blondie Ndebele

In a statement, Zimsec director Esau Nhandara said heads of examination centres could start collecting the results for their respective regional offices today.

Nhandara also announced that the pass rate had declined.

“The pass rate for 2012, which is 18,4%, was marginally lower than that for 2011 which was at 19,5%. The reason could be attributed to the increase in candidature,” he said.

Nhandara said 268 854 students wrote their “O” Level examinations last year compared to 241 512 in 2011, representing an 11,3% increase.

The number of candidates who passed at least five subjects with a grade C or better was 31 767.
