CASTLE LAGER Premier Soccer League newboys Tripple B have rubbished claims that the club is facing serious financial constraints.

A local weekly newspaper at the weekend claimed that Tshintsha Magiya’s financial woes were a result of the Beitbridge side failing to offer players new contracts ahead of the new season.

Several players at the club, new and old, are yet to pen contracts with Tripple B, raising speculation that the 2012 Central Soccer League Champions were sinking into a financial quagmire.

Tripple B president Eddy Kanyangu has, however, dismissed the claims as false and unfounded, saying the club had a strong financial base to sustain it for the rest of the forthcoming season.

“That is all lies. We do not have any financial challenges. Right now as I speak, we are busy paying players their signing-on fees.

“Part of the reasons we delayed to offer players contracts is that we only had gone for two weeks’ training and the technical department wanted to assess the fitness levels of the players first before they could recommend players for contract negotiations.

“We simply had to wait a little longer, but as I speak now we have already signed a couple of players who have satisfied the coaches and we have paid them their signing-on fees,” he said.

Kanyangu added: “Some of the players we have registered interest in are yet to secure clearance letters from their previous clubs and in such a situation, we have no choice but to wait until the clearance letters are made available.”

Tripple B president said the club’s pre-season preparations were evidence that the club was financially sound and could shoulder the financial challenges that come with of top-flight football.

Tripple B has played Dynamos and fellow newcomers Triangle at Gibbo Stadium as part of their pre-season preparations.

“If we could travel to Triangle for a pre-season friendly and if we can afford to line up other friendlies in the coming weeks, then how do you justify that we have financial problems? Those are just lies that are being spread by haters and they will not deter us from achieving our goal,” he said.

Kanyangu said the club was on the brink of signing some high profile players from top Premiership sides.

He was, however, not at liberty to reveal the names of players saying doing so would compromise contract negotiations between the club and the players.
