In summons seen by NewsDay, Windmill reportedly supplied Mutsvangwa with fertilisers and chemicals worth $31 396 through a credit facility between March 2010 and May 2011.

“Plaintiff’s (Windmill) claim against the defendant (Mutsvangwa) is for payment of the sum of $25 414,66 being the outstanding amount due to the plaintiff for the agricultural inputs advanced on credit to the defendant in 2010-2011 agricultural season,” reads the summons.

The payment for the fertilisers and chemicals was due within 180 days of the date on the invoices, which Mutsvangwa has not paid.

“As of September 2011, the defendant had accumulated total interest of $2 156,46 calculated at 5% per annum. In January 2012 the defendant made a payment of $8 000 in an effort to pay off the debt,” the summons read.

Windmill says Mutsvangwa has since failed to pay the outstanding amount and owes the agricultural company $25 414 for the agricultural inputs sold to him.
