Both females and males will participate in junior and senior categories. Juniors for women will take part in the 6km race and the seniors will battle it out in the 8km race.

The cross-country in the Midlands will be used as a selection platform for the southern Region cross-country championships that are set for Lesotho on February 23 and the world cross-country in Poland next month.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday NAAZ president Tendai Tagara said the stage has been set for the event.

“Yes, the race is on this weekend in Kwekwe and we are expecting athletes from all provinces and schools also from around all the provinces to take part participate in both juniors and seniors races,” he said. “At this event we want to select the best athletes who will represent the country in Lesotho and Poland.”
