The champions had written to Hwange guaranteeing them payment for the services of striker Zikumbawire, who is still to join them at training despite the two parties having agreed on a $15 000 season loan transfer.

Dynamos had requested them to release the player for training while they mobilised funds.

The champions said they were at a disadvantage as the player who they had registered for the African Champions League is currently not training with them. That forced them to enter into negotiations with Hwange for them to release the player while they mobilised funds for his loan transfer.

“We had negotiated with Hwange to allow the player to join training while we mobilise funds, but they have turned down our request. It has been very difficult to negotiate with them for the release of Zikumbawire. So we are now mobilising funds for payment. There is nothing we can do. He is not the only player we have to pay for. We have other players and that has made it very difficult for us,” said Dynamos vice-chairman Webster Chikengezha.

However, Dynamos have signed former Caps United striker Clive Kawinga on a three-year deal to give Kalisto Pasuwa more options in attack.

Dynamos are scheduled to play Highlanders in the first leg of the Bob 89 Super Cup at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday before they host Lesotho’s Correctional Services in the first leg preliminary round of the African Champions League next weekend.
