PARIS — David Beckham will kick off his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) career with a double clash against Joey Barton. Report by The Sun The England star (37) agreed a five-month deal to play for the wealthy French giants and plans to make his debut against Barton’s Marseille on February 24.

before a cup clash against the same player two days later. Beckham, who will return to training with Arsenal next week, will officially begin at PSG on February 13.

He is unlikely to feature against Sochaux on February 17 and has told friends he hopes to make his debut against Barton.

Badboy Barton has previously unleashed his fury at Beckham, once accusing the superstar of having his pants made in a sweat-shop. He tweeted: “Do one, Becks. They cost about 1p to make in a sweat-shop in the Third World.

“Is there no limit to what ‘Brand Beckham’ will endorse for a pound note?”

But Beckham, who is giving his PSG wages to charity, is relishing the chance to play in France.

He said: “I have a lot of experience in the game. I have played for some of the biggest clubs in the world and with the best players in the world.

“I am still being successful at 37 and still fit. “I have not lost any of my pace, because, to be honest, I haven’t had a lot of pace throughout my career.

“That hasn’t changed. And the lure of being part of one of biggest European clubs around at the moment, with one of the best managers, will spur me on. I was very lucky to work with Carlo and Leo for quite a few months at Milan. Carlo Ancelotti is one of the best managers I have played for. It’s exciting on a number of levels.”

Beckham played for former Chelsea boss Ancelotti at Milan.

The ex-Manchester United star, who had 11 other serious offers, claims he only decided on PSG in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He said: “This literally all happened at 1am this morning and was finalised when I got on the plane at 11am. Right now, I have a few things to sort out with my children and the schooling and a few other things.

“I have been training at Arsenal. My fitness won’t take long to get up to speed. I definitely won’t be fit for next Friday. A few weeks and I’ll be up to speed.”
