The matter has since been set down for hearing on February 22 before High Court judge Justice Chinembiri Bhunu.

In the application filed by the AG’s Office, the State is also seeking an order barring the Registrar of Deeds, who is cited as the third respondent, from transferring 43 properties, which are subject of the application.

The State is also seeking an order to interdict Buyanga and his firm from dealing and ceding any rights connected to the houses listed in the court application. In a letter dated November 1, 2012, addressed to Judge President George Chiweshe by the AG’s Office, chief law officer Chris Mutangadura said: “Our office has been inundated with pathetic requests for intervention from members of the public who allegedly fell victim to some fraudulent loan business done by the above-named suspect.”

“The victims exceed 57 families and individuals. Consequently we received a police docket against the accused persons, one of whom absconded outside the jurisdiction to avoid trial and an international warrant of arrest was duly issued against him.”The AG’s Office said it had filed the application in terms of a section of the Serious Offences Act.
