QUINCY Antipas will miss Wednesday’s international friendly match against Botswana at Rufaro Stadium, Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels confirmed yesterday.

The squad was expected to report for camp last night with training set for today as Pagels goes for his debut as Zimbabwe coach after taking over from Rahman Gumbo.

“He is the only one who could not make it due to other commitments, but the rest of the payers are coming in,” he said.

The friendly match is in preparation for a 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifying match against Egypt at the end of March.

He said the South Africa-based players were expected to fly in last night while the Europe-based were expected today.

“All the South Africa-based players are arriving today (yesterday) and we expect the Europe-based players tomorrow (today).

The local players and the South Africa-based will start camp this evening (last night),” said the Germany national yesterday.

Pagels said he would conduct his first training session this afternoon although it was not clear yesterday if he had acquired a work permit.

The South Africa-based players called up for the match are Washington Arubi, Gilbert Mapemba, Lincoln Zvasiya, Denver Mukamba, Tafadzwa Rusike, Khama Billiat, Mathew Rusike, Simba Sithole, Rodreck Mutuma and Abbas Amidu.

Mutuma, who joined Bloemfontein Celtic last week, will be returning to the country just three days after leaving for his new club. The three European stars that have been selected for the Warriors are Knowledge Musona, Quincy Antipas and Archford Gutu. Musona returned from suspension at his Bundesliga side Augsburg and was an unused substitute when the relegation-battling side forced a draw at Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Gutu and Antipas are currently with their clubs on preseason training.
