The Bulawayo giants take on Dynamos in the first leg of the Bob89 Super Cup first leg at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday, whose official launch takes place in Harare this evening. Mines minister Obert Mpofu will be guest of honour.
Club chairman Peter Dube yesterday confirmed the appointments and said the three had signed one-year performance-based contracts.
“We have appointed a welfare manager and that is Willard Khumalo and retained the same assistants (Ndlovu and Chuma) as last year. They have signed one-year contracts, which, of course are performance related. We want everyone to participate in this community thing, but you see the vacancies are limited. They are good contracts and we have put everything in place,” Dube said.
Mashinkila-Khumalo takes over from another legend Amin Soma-Phiri, whose contract expired on December 31 last year and was not renewed after he allegedly fell out with Bosso executive committee.
It’s not the first time that Mashinkila-Khumalo comes aboard the Bosso technical team as he was in the department at the turn of the millennium as Rahman Gumbo’s assistant and later as head coach. He mentored the now-defunct Mwana Africa and coached in Botswana, briefly heading the Zimbabwe Saints technical department in 2011 before taking up Central Region Division One side FC Strikers’ top job last year.
Ndlovu, whose contract with Bosso ended on December 31 last year, has inked another contract with the club with sources having previously indicated Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu had recommended the former Highlanders, Moroka Swallows, Silver Stars and Platinum Stars defender to return to his bench.
Bosso have kept faith in coaches that took the Bulawayo football giants to position two in the 2012 Castle Lager Premiership and seek to win the first piece of silverware in 2013 after last winning the Independence Trophy in 2011.
