The former Dynamos captain and 14 others were slapped with life bans from all football-related activities for their alleged involvement in Asiagate scandal.

Fifa are yet to endorse the bans.

Zifa vice-president Ndumiso Gumede said: “We banned them from participating in football activities in the country, but we cannot stop them from doing the same outside the country.

“We sent our recommendations to Fifa and they are yet to endorse them, so we have no power to stop players from competing in foreign leagues. But it is still in our jurisdiction as Zifa to stop local players from playing for the local teams. That is the reason some of the banned players based outside the country are still playing for their respective teams.”

Zifa has since given another banned player Method Mwanjali a go ahead to play for Mamelodi Sundowns when they tour the country for a series of friendlies next week.

The Pitso Mosimane-coached club will begin their tour with a clash against Highlanders at Barbourfields on Wednesday next week before travelling to the capital to face Caps United at Gwanzura Stadium two days later.

Sundowns will then conclude their five-day tour with a match against league champions Dynamos on Sunday.

Esrom Nyandoro and Nyasha Mushekwi are expected to travel with Sundowns for the matches.
