Ndlovu has been one of the top players at the UWC rugby team since joining the side last year and the Cheetahs flank believes the coming of the former Springboks coach into the UWC coaching set-up will steer him to greater heights.

“My aim is to be one of the greatest rugby players for the University of the Western Cape,” the 23-year-old Mbare-born giant loose forward said.

“I know that with hard work I can reach my goals in rugby and with the expertise and experience of UWC Rugby director Peter De Villiers, I know that my dreams will become a reality.”

Ndlovu has been quietly making the country proud in South Africa after recently steering the UWC to the Western Province Rugby Union (WPRU) Premier League A title.

By lifting the WPRU Premier League A title, the UWC rugby side managed to earn promotion to WPRU Super League B.

It will be the first time in 10 years UWC will play in the Super League B and Ndlovu is already bracing for a tough campaign.

“Super League B will be tough, but we have what it takes to do well and possibly earn promotion again,” he said.

UWC Rugby manager Mandisi Tshonti and coach Oliver Jansen hold Ndlovu in high regard, and recently told the UWC’s official website that Ndlovu brought a great deal of experience and leadership to the side, which played a pivotal part in the team’s success.

Ndlovu was part of the Cheetahs that participated in the 2013 Sevens Rugby World Cup qualifiers in Morocco in September last year and managed to qualify for global showpiece set for Russia in June.

It will be Ndlovu’s first World Cup. “I am extremely excited. Not only do I want to make my country proud, but also my university,” he said.

Ndlovu maintains that it’s not all about rugby, though. He is currently finishing a certificate in Education, but it is his dream to obtain a degree in Psychology.
