A Form 4 student at Prince Edward High school died on Saturday after collapsing at a basketball training session at the school playgrounds.

Report by Kupakwashe Makonye

The Headmaster of the school Agrippa Sora yesterday told NewsDay that Gerald Makamure (16) had complained of breathing difficulties during the session and was told to take a rest.

“They were having a basketball training session when he started complaining of difficulties in breathing. He was ordered to go and take a rest, but he continued to complain saying he was feeling weak,” Sora said.

“An ambulance was called after he kept on complaining  and was taken to hospital  at around 10am. The doctors later on told us that the boy had died  at around 11am.”

Last year a form one pupil Munashe Banda was found dead in the swimming pool at the same school.

Allegations by some were that he had been bullied and assaulted resulting in his death before the body was dumped in the swimming pool.  However, Sora at the time refuted the allegations.

Police are still carrying out investigations into the death of Banda.
