Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the death of Charity Chiyanduri of Chipiripuru village, Chief Mujinga, Tengwe, Hurungwe district.

Police said on December 29 along Chanetsa Road, Chiyanduri decided to take her own life by gulping an unknown quantity of unidentified tablets.

“After taking the overdose of pills, the now deceased immediately told her grandmother Register Kangausaru before falling unconscious.

“She was rushed to Karoi District Hospital where she died on admission,” Mabgweazara said, adding no foul play was suspected.

In a related incident, an 18-year-old Mhondoro man, Innocent Ndoro of Zhonwa village, Chief Mashayamombe, died on December 29 after drinking a poisonous substance following an altercation with his brother Tapiwa over a missing cellphone.

According to the police, Ndoro got angry when his brother accused him of theft.
