NAIROBI — Prime Minister Raila Odinga has never earned a salary since the formation of coalition government in March 2008, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has revealed.

Report by The Kenyan Daily Post

Speaking on a local FM radio station on Tuesday, Midiwo, who is also the government chief whip, said the PM has not received his salary since the formation of coalition government in year 2008.

“The Prime Minister has not been able to receive his salary because it does not exist,” Midiwo said.

Midiwo blamed some officials at the Treasury he did not name, for derailing the allocation of Raila’s salary.

“It is unfortunate that nobody has cared over the Prime Minister’s salary yet he has held the position since the beginning of the coalition government,” Midiwo said.

He said there was need for the PM to be paid since he is also a chief government principal like President Mwai Kibaki.

How has he survived without a salary for more than four years?
