Monoz, who finished last season on fourth position, have also appointed David Makombe to the position of club manager, replacing banned Clayton Munemo.

The latest appointments complete the team’s technical set-up which is led by coach Biggie Zuze.

Zuze himself was appointed substantive coach late last year after inspiring a stunning rejuvenation of a side that was fighting relegation under former coach Taurai Mangwiro.

The other men in the technical set-up are Nkululeko Dlamini (first assistant and goalkeepers coach), and George Jojo who is the development coach.

Nyambabvu, who will come in as second assistant, spent last season performing the same role at relegated Hardbody while Makombe, a banker by profession, has worked at Monoz before as secretary-general.

Monomotapa chairman Joseph Mukoki confirmed the developments at his club yesterday.

“Of the three candidates that were interviewed for the assistant position role, we thought Nyambabvu can fit well into our system. He is new to coaching, but with some guidance we believe he can add some value to the club,” said Mukoki.

He added: “Makombe will play the role of chief executive officer at the club. He will literally run the club and the executive will be there to guide him. The executive will interfere on policy matters.”

Mukoki said preparations for the new season were well on course with the club set to announce the players that they had acquired “anytime soon”.

Monoz have been holding trials in the past weeks to replace some of their stars that left for fellow PSL teams.

The 2009 league champions lost Artwell Mukandi and Russel Madamombe to league champions Dynamos, while Tawanda Nyamandwe has reportedly joined Caps United.

Osbourne Mukuradare is believed to have joined Harare City, while Tendai Ngulube is linked with a move to Highlanders.

So far, Monomotapa have made one signing with Ismael Lawe crossing the floor from Gunners, while skipper Kuda Musharu has extended his stay at the club.
